Quite a rare piece from the early 19th century. Perhaps even a little older.
An old weight scale for jewelry, gold and precious stones.
It comes in a mahogany box.
When opened, you can see the weighing pans in a recess. The weights are complete under a hinged lid, which is beautifully decorated and bears the maker's name.
A beautiful original. Bauer, Munich has been manufacturing precision scales since 1790
The weights are in the old weight unit of cm.
Info:
The weight unit cm is the centigram (cm - 1 cm = 0.01 gram) This unit is not widely used and was rarely used. It was introduced at the beginning of the 19th century as part of the metric system and never really caught on.
With signs of age-related wear, without key.
The wooden case measures 11.5 x 6 x 3 cm
